XIaomi Mi 6 : The Budget Galaxy S8 ?

Mi 6 is an upcoming flagship phone of Xiaomi and it seems that it will be giving some tough competition to other smartphone manufacturers.

Here is what's inside this budget beast :

  • 5.15-inch 1080p LCD display
  • Snapdragon 835 with Adreno 540 GPU
  • 6GB RAM
  • 64GB or 128GB storage
  • Splash-resistant
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • 12MP wide +12MP telephoto dual camera
  • 3,350 mAh
  • Stereo speakers
  • USB Type-C
Mi 6 has a relatively compact 5.15 inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and has features like blue light reduction, glare reduction and a ultra-dark night mode. With a 5.15-inch 1080p display and Snapdragon 835 which is highly power efficient, a 3350 mAh should last a full working day of usage. It has a fingerprint reader just below the display which also acts as a home button.

A thing to note is that Mi 6 is just 'Splash Resistant' and not fully water proof with IP67 or IP68 rating unlike some other flagships out there. This phone features dual stereo and dual cameras on the back of the phone with a 12 MP wide angle lens that sports 4-axis stabilization and a 12 MP telephoto which adds a 2X lossless zoom however zooming functionality is not available in video mode yet. It also provides some software based features like beautification mode and portrait mode which artificially blurs the background after the photo is taken to SIMULATE depth of field and adds what is called a 'bokeh effect'

Mi 6 also has 3D curved glass across the whole phone.

With all of these amazing features, some compromises have to be made, in this case, Mi 6 DOESN'T offer a 3.5mm audio jack so you have to get a USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter.

The phone comes with 4 color options :-

1) Black
2) White
3) Blue
4) Silver with an ultra reflection mirror finish

AND

a special 'Ceramic' variant with four sided curved ceramic body, a hardness level of 8 Mohs and camera rims made out of 18-karat gold.

The pricing of this phone is $360 and is expected to be around 27.000 INR in India while the ceramic version costs $435. The pricing is very aggressive and could almost destroy other phones in this range if launched and marketed properly.

The full review of this phone will be done once this phone officially launches worldwide.

That is all for today, hope this helped you and if it did, be sure to comment you thoughts down below and share this with all your friends!
