DESIGN -
Oneplus has done a very good job in overall build quality and design of the phone. The back of the phone is inspired by the old HTC Phones but it still looks good and suits good on the device. Unfortunately, they got rid of the Sandstone back covers which everyone loved about the Oneplus phones. The device is made up of anodized aluminium unibody which gives it a premium look. The screen is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 4. On the lower end of the screen, you get a fingerprint scanner through which you can unlock the phone in just 0.2s and Oneplus claims that it gets better over time. On the bottom, you get single bottom firing speaker of which the sound quality is pretty good according to me and also you get the USB Type C port with the support of fast charging. The device comes in two colours - Graphite and Soft Gold.
CAMERA -
Oneplus 3 sports a 16 - megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX 298 Sensor and 8 megapixel front facing camera with 1.4-micron pixels. The rear camera can record videos upto 4K 30fps and slow motion in 120fps. The front facing camera can record videos upto 1080p 30fps. The rear camera also features OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation), Phase Detection Autofocus and RAW Image Format Support. The camera performs very good while taking pictures outdoors in sunlight with very little of noise and in low light condition or indoors, the camera still tends to perform good if compared to many other devices, not the best under low light but is still good. The OIS works great on the device.
SOFTWARE -
Oneplus 3 runs on their own Oxygen OS 3.1.1 which is based on Marshmallow 6.0.1 which is very close to stock Android with just a few more customization options and things like Shelf. You can easily make new memos if you swipe to right to the Shelf. Shelf gives quick access to weather information, frequently used apps, widgets and contacts. The software is still very snappy just like the stock android. It also has Now On Tap and Doze mode. In the settings, you have access to adjust adaptive brightness, colour temperature, ambient display mode and more. Ambient display uses the proximity sensor to give you just the basic info without waking your phone. You also get an option to use SwiftKey to use as your default android keyboard.
You can enable dark mode in the settings and also change the general color scheme of the UI. You can also have custom LED Notification Light Color for each function. You can use on-screen buttons or the capacitive touch buttons on the phone and you can also change the order of the on-screen buttons in the settings according to your own preference.
PERFORMANCE -
Oneplus 3 is loaded with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 clocked at 2.2Ghz and has 6 gigs of ram which is absolutely insane. This device can handle multi-tasking like a boss. There is no slowing in anything you do on this device, the high end games like Nova 3, Asphalt 8 and etc. are very smooth on this device with no frame drops anywhere. This phone is a beast in performance and absolutely nails everything on the right spot. The device can touch upto 42-43°C with continuous extended gaming which is pretty normal and doesn't feel hot at all when you hold the device.
The cellular call quality was pretty good and as well as the cellular network reception.
BATTERY LIFE -
Oneplus 3 comes with 3,000 mAh battery which is slightly less than the Oneplus 2 but again, this device has a 1080p screen which definitely consumes way less power than the qHD or 4K displays and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow also improvises on battery management. It should last you for about 4-5 hours with some heavy usage and also, Oneplus claims that this device can reach 0% to 60% battery percentage in about 30 minutes with their 'Dash Charging' as it comes with their 'Dash Charger' in the box.
PRICE -
Oneplus 3 is priced at 400$ in the U.S and is sold in India for Rs. 27,999 on Amazon which is amazing for a device which is as powerful as this.
Finally, Oneplus 3 is a very good deal which one should definitely take advantage of, the performance is really good, the camera is not the best but its good with a little noise in the images, rest everything is to the point and excellent.
This is such a good and apt review.
